LOCATION OF PUHOS AREA

Puhos is locat­ed in the area of the town of Kitee, in the south­ern­most part of North Kare­lia.

In addi­tion to Kitee, the eco­nom­ic area of the Kitee region includes Rääkkylä and Tohma­järvi. This region has approx­i­mate­ly 16,000 inhab­i­tants, of which around 9,300 live in Kitee.

There are approx­i­mate­ly 1,100 com­pa­nies in this region, includ­ing sev­er­al inter­na­tion­al com­pa­nies in the Puhos area.

The main sec­tors are wood and met­al indus­try and ser­vice sec­tor (trav­el, trade and wel­fare ser­vices).
